Jumping began in earnest in elementary school for three years. Until high school, he participated in the Alpine composite and jump, but in April 2015 he joined the Tsuchiya Home and turned to jump.
He made his World Cup debut in Zakopane, Poland on January 24, 2016, and finished 7th, points in his first match.
At the PyeongChang Olympics in February 2018, Japan ranked 7th in Normal Hill, the highest ranking Japanese, and 10th in Large Hill. In November 2018, he won the World Cup for the first time in the World Coupleska Tournament (Finland), and in the Jump Week from December 30 to January 6, 2019, he achieved the third wins ever Grand Slam in Japan’s first.
He has 13 wins since the 2018-2019 season’s first championship, and became the first Japanese overall victory champion.

本格的にジャンプを始めたのは小学校3年から。高校までは複合とジャンプに出場していたが、2015年4月土屋ホームに入社と同時にジャンプに転向。 2016年1月24日にポーランドのザコパネでワールドカップデビュー、7位に入り初戦でポイントを獲得。2018年2月平昌オリンピックでは日本人最高位のノーマルヒル7位、ラージヒルで10位。2018年11月ワールドカップルカ大会（フィンランド）でワールドカップ初優勝、同年12月30日～2019年1月6日のジャンプ週間では史上3人目、日本人初となるグランドスラムを達成。2018-2019シーズン初優勝から通算13勝をあげ、日本人初となる総合優勝を果たした。
